Diasporal Rhythms’ mission is to expand the appreciation of this work through membership development, community outreach and educational activities for artists, collectors, students and the general public. The varied Diasporal Rhythms programs reach more than 1500 participant’s annually in Chicago and around the country, widening support of this artistic niche beyond the collector’s walls into the hearts and minds of future generations of potential art collectors. The organization was founded in 2003 by Carol J. Briggs, Joan Crisler, Patric McCoy and Daniel T. Parker. Since its inception, Diasporal Rhythms has continuously worked to accomplish its goal of growing the organization and expanding the appreciation of our visual arts culture—and the contemporary artists who create it—by hosting workshops, seminars, tours and special events.
