What is the Culture Coast?
Culture Coast Chicago is a collection of artistically vibrant neighborhoods on Chicago’s South Side. Known for its high concentration of museums, music and theater ensembles, performance venues, cultural nonprofits, and arts education opportunities, the region spans from just south of McCormick Place to the South Shore Cultural Center and is bordered by Lake Michigan to the east and the Dan Ryan Expressway to the west. What is the Culture Coast Member Network?
Part of the Culture Coast mission is to serve as a networking platform for South Side cultural institutions, artists, and community leaders to meet and collaborate. The network promotes member institutions and their events through our website, newsletter and event calendar.
Who can become a member?
Membership is open to South Side arts and cultural institutions within the Culture Coast boundaries, as well as local businesses who host cultural events. Contact us to learn more about the benefits of membership and how you can become a Culture Coast Member.
What happens at the quarterly member meetings?
Each meeting presents a different keynote speaker hosted at one of our member institutions. Past meetings have featured speakers like Melissa Cherry, VP for Cultural Tourism and Neighborhoods at Choose Chicago speaking about Choose Chicago’s neighborhood cultural initiatives and Ra Joy, Executive Director of Arts Alliance Illinois presenting his latest project. Can individuals join Culture Coast?
Unfortunately we do not currently offer memberships to individual community members and families. If you would like to support the Culture Coast we encourage you to attend events on the Culture Coast and support our member institutions.
How do I keep up to date on events?
Our Event Calendar provides the most up to date information on upcoming events on the Culture Coast. We also encourage you to subscribe to our newsletter to receive monthly announcements and special events.
